Primis Publishing Customized Conference Proceedings
Primis, McGraw-Hill Inc.’s electronic custom publishing system for college textbooks, introduced an additional application for its database: customized conference proceedings. Users had access to an on-line Apple messaging system and reviews of conference speeches and information on EDUCOM. Selections from Business Week and from The Accommodating Reader, designed by Primis for freshman English, were also accessible. From the database, Primis can custom-print any of 27 speeches that were delivered in overlapping sessions at the conference. More than 800 customized conference proceedings were ordered at EDUCOM.
Also available at the conference was a file called “Everything About EDUCOM,” which contains the consortium’s programs, publications, and calls for 1993 proposals. Another file called “EDUCOM Information” allowed viewers to choose from such data as the organization’s by-laws and its EASI Challenges program of computer applications for students with disabilities. Attendees also could access and print selections from a three-tiered membership directory and from a catalog of new products that EDUCOM corporate associates are introducing this year.
